Microsoft announced new strategic partnerships with Nvidia and artificial intelligence startup Anthropic, signaling a move to expand its AI investments. This development suggests a diversification strategy that may reduce Microsoft’s dependence on OpenAI, a company in which it already owns a significant stake. Founded by former OpenAI researchers, Anthropic is known for developing the Claude family of large language models. The company’s goal is to create reliable, interpretable and controllable AI systems.
Under the new deals, Microsoft will invest up to $5 billion in Anthropic, while Nvidia will invest up to $10 billion.
