Canalys recently released its latest report on the Global Cloud Services Market. According to the report, Amazon Web Services (AWS) was the leading cloud service provider with a market share of 32% in the first quarter of 2021. Microsoft Azure took second place in the list with a market share of 19%. It’s important to note that Microsoft Azure grew 50% for the third straight quarter.

“Growth was fueled by cloud consumption and longer-term customer loyalty made possible by investing in Azure Arc for hybrid IT control plane management, Azure Synapse for data analytics and AI as the platform,” wrote Canalys of Azure’s growth.

The competition among the leading cloud service providers to take advantage of these opportunities will continue to intensify. “Expanding geographically for data sovereignty and improving latency, either by delivering across the region or having a local presence in the city, is a focus of cloud service providers,” said Matthew Ball, Canalys chief analyst. “But…
