Microsoft has chosen CCL as the first partner for their new cloud region in New Zealand, making them the first to migrate customers to the New Zealand North Cloud region at scale. This partnership includes Scales Corporation as the first customer for the migration. CCL will use their tools and frameworks to smoothly transition data and workloads. The collaboration will also focus on building digital skills to enhance New Zealand’s cloud talent pool for maximizing the potential of hyperscale cloud and artificial intelligence.

Richard Adams, CEO of CCL, highlighted the importance of offering customers a wide range of cloud services and platforms to meet their needs. Scales Corporation, a key player in New Zealand’s primary export sector, will move to the northern cloud region to improve resilience and cost efficiency. Aaron Magon, Group CIO at Scales Corporation, emphasized the commitment to leveraging technology for business growth and customer service on an international level, with CCL playing a crucial role in the transition.

Vanessa Sorenson, Microsoft New Zealand CEO, expressed excitement about the partnership with CCL and the upcoming launch of the cloud region in 2024. She emphasized the potential for local innovation, particularly with generative AI, and praised CCL’s expertise in hybrid cloud solutions and knowledge of the New Zealand market for helping clients achieve their goals faster.
