Meta has found its footing on AI. His rival found something much more frightening

Mark Zuckerberg spent nearly a billion dollars last year — some reports suggest significantly more — recruiting AI researchers to dinner at his Lake Tahoe compound. He handed out nine-figure pay packages – in some cases to Australians – effectively blowing up his entire AI operation. He fired people, hired new people and appointed a 29-year-old to be responsible for saving his company’s reputation in what he has declared to be the defining mission of his career.

The first results came on Thursday.

Muse Spark, Meta’s new AI model, landed with so much fanfare that the company’s stock rose 6.5 percent in a single day. It’s the first step toward what Zuckerberg promised investors: “personal superintelligence for…”
