Google Research is witnessing impressive progress in AI, with entrepreneurs leading groundbreaking innovations that use Google AI tools to address real-world issues. To support this, Google is funding 20 startups through the Google Founders Funds for Startups, aimed at Black and Latinx-led companies that responsibly innovate with AI. These startups are revolutionizing various sectors, such as preventing wildfires, reducing fashion waste, and helping community college students transfer to four-year degrees.

Each of the 20 startups will receive $150,000 in non-dilutive cash prizes, $100,000 in Google Cloud credits, and mentorship from Google experts in AI and sales. This marks the fifth year of the Google for Startups Founders Funds, with over $50 million committed to more than 570 Black and Latinx founders globally. These entrepreneurs have raised over $590 million in follow-on funding to further develop their AI businesses.

The startup recipients in the United States include innovative companies like akepto, which offers a smart home energy management system, Beta Financial Services that eliminates bias in financial services, and Abundant that provides support to farmers with critical crop information. Other recipients include AI Change, EdVisorly, He is, HackWare, hire henry, Hue, Improving aviation, At Orbit, Inc., just air, Dissident, page break, Raincoat, be sensible, sortil, Address AI, reliable, and Hydrological plan.

These startups cover a wide range of industries such as energy management, financial services, farming, education, robotics, marketing, aviation, weather insurance, traffic safety, water sustainability, and more. Google’s support aims to help these companies grow and scale while promoting responsible innovation with AI.
