A new AI trend has been called “misogynistic” and “harmful” to women, claiming it checks their “body numbers”.
Dozens of websites and apps have popped up online that encourage men to paste the link to a woman’s Instagram profile into the search bar before a fake number is returned.
The randomly selected number is intended to represent the unsuspecting participant’s “body count,” which refers to the number of people they have had sexual relations with prior to their current relationship.
X user Kohei is the creator of one of the sites and launched it late last month.
“Suspicious your girl has more than 10 bodies? Now you don’t have to guess anymore,” he wrote.
“You paste in your IG (Instagram) URL and the app brutally estimates your body count by checking your followers, posts and stories.”
Social media was vocal about its concerns and found the site anything but funny.
