(Gray News) – An Amazon Web Services outage on Tuesday crippled many popular apps, websites, and other internet services.
The cloud computing service has millions of customers, according to its website. DownDetector.com, which tracks reports of outages, showed a surge for Amazon, Prime Music, and Ring, as well as the apps from McDonald’s and Instacart, Disney +, and many others.
It also affected the content management system Gray Television uses to update its broadcasters’ websites.
The outage occurred around 10:30 a.m. ET. Hours later, some websites were still having problems.
AWS reported several issues on its service health dashboard, but said it had identified the cause and was making progress towards a full recovery of the service. There was no estimated time that everything would be fully operational, but the staff “ran a slowdown showing a significant recovery in the US EAST-1 region.”
