(TNS) – Franklin County’s commissioners voted Tuesday to have high-resolution aerial photographs of the county, buy five hybrid cruisers, and use federal grants to improve prison security.

The county received approximately $ 2.9 million of its $ 5.86 million from funds under the American Rescue Plan Act last year. It should receive the other half this year.

Commissioners made two presentations on Maine’s statewide Orthoimagery program for specialty digital aerial imagery of the county in 2021. At the time, Maria Jacques of the Emergency Services Communication Bureau said that the state GeoLibrary would cover two-thirds of the total cost.

The goal of GeoLibrary is to cover the state and develop reliable, consistent statewide data, drive cost efficiency, make more timely decisions, reduce unwanted costs, and promote data sharing, according to Claire Kiedrowski, executive director of the Maine Library of Geographic Information…
