We told you that today Apple would have officially presented the rumored MagSafe battery for $ 99 from the online Apple Store. According to MacRumors, it appears that with the release of this accessory, users will be able to unlock limited reverse functionality Wireless charging for the iPhone 12 Series. Originally it was rumored that it was in the iPhone 11 line reverse wireless charging allows the battery in a smartphone to share its power with other devices that support charging, including other phones, earbuds, and more.
There are a couple of caveats, however. Unlike other reverse wireless charging handsets that debuted with the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and started as Wireless PowerShare on the Samsung Galaxy S10, Apple’s implementation is slightly different in that the host iPhone must be connected for reverse wireless charging to work. Additionally, the only device that can be used with iPhone 12 series reverse wireless charging is the MagSafe battery.

As Apple notes on its support page for the new accessories: “If both your iPhone and the MagSafe battery need to be charged, you can charge them at the same time. Attach your MagSafe battery to your iPhone, then plug the MagSafe battery into an AC adapter. Use With a 20 W or more power adapter, the MagSafe battery can charge your iPhone with up to 15 W charging power. “
To reiterate, for now, the iPhone 12 line can only reverse the MagSafe battery and only when the host phone is connected with a Lightning cable. However, this suggests that this charging method may be used to charge the AirPods or AirPods Pro. At the moment, however, this is the first step on a journey that still has a lot to do.

Apple says, “You can also charge both by plugging your MagSafe battery into your iPhone and then plugging your iPhone into a power source. You can charge this way if you need to connect your iPhone to another device while it is charging, z when using wired CarPlay or transferring photos to a Mac. ” In this statement, the company acknowledges how limited this process is at the moment.
