The MacBook Pro M1X was noticeable because of its absence WWDC 2021, especially since Apple added the term to its Keynote YouTube metadata. However, one tipster believes we have a long wait ahead of us and claims that the redesigned laptop won’t arrive until the fourth quarter of 2021.
“MacBook Pro 14 and 16 will definitely be coming in the fourth quarter of 2021,” he said tweeted. “Either in late October or early November.” When asked if this could coincide with the release of an M1X-powered iMac Pro, the leaker said answered that while it wouldn’t, but with the same M1X chipset “you can definitely expect the Mac mini”.
Both the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models have been predicted for a while, but the latter is the more interesting since the 2019 16-inch MacBook Pro currently available still uses an Intel chip and has yet to be upgraded Apple silicone. The 14-inch MacBook Pro, in the meantime would likely die. replace 13 inch version currently available, and the 2021 Mac mini could be a straightforward refresher M1 powered version that came out last winter.
Dylandkt has made other predictions about the upcoming M1X MacBook Pros that have yet to be proven in one way or another. Back in Mayhe predicted some of the key specs and a bold new design.
“The M1X is an extension of the M1 that will include more Thunderbolt channels, CPU cores, GPU cores, support for multiple external monitors, and higher power consumption,” he said. “These devices will both have a 1080p webcam, an SD card reader, three Thunderbolt USB-C ports, an upgraded MagSafe port, and an HDMI port.”
In terms of looks, the leaker stated that Apple will use the iPad Pro with flat edges and a reduced frame for inspiration. The words “MacBook Pro” will finally disappear under the screen, too, he says.
Time will tell for all of these predictions, but it’s worth noting that the late October or early November estimate puts Dylandkt at odds with another current forecast. Last week, LeaksApplePro claimed that “at least one model” of the new MacBook Pro will arrive in week 31, which has been interpreted as August 2-8.
