Lunar Lake, the Latest Innovation from Intel

Intel’s upcoming Next Generation Lunar Lake and Lake Arrow “Core Ultra 200” CPUs are set to be released in September and October. The Lunar Lake CPUs are designed for thin and light laptops and will be available in September, with an official launch expected between September 17-24. The Arrow Lake “Core Ultra 200” desktop CPUs will be released in October, along with the corresponding Z890 motherboards.

Although there were reports of a delay in the release of Intel’s Lunar Lake CPUs, Intel has confirmed that the chips are on track to ship in the third quarter of 2024, just in time for the holiday season. These CPUs will be competing with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Strix Point “Ryzen AI 300” APU, which is set to hit the market before Intel’s Lunar Lake CPUs.

In addition to the Lunar Lake CPUs, Intel is also planning to release Arrow Lake-S desktop CPUs and Z890 motherboards in October 2024. Non-K “Core Ultra 200” desktop CPUs and B860 and H810 motherboards are expected to arrive around CES 2025. Commercial offerings of the Lunar Lake CPUs are slated for January 2025.

The upcoming months will see a crowded market with innovative platforms and chip offerings from Intel and AMD. Intel’s Lunar Lake CPUs will go head-to-head with Qualcomm’s Strix Point, while Arrow Lake will be competing against granite ridge. This competition is expected to make for a busy Christmas season in terms of CPU releases.

In summary, Intel’s Lunar Lake and Arrow Lake “Core Ultra 200” CPUs are scheduled for release in September and October. These CPUs will target the thin and light laptop segment and desktop market, respectively. Despite initial reports of a delay, Intel has confirmed that the chips are on track for a holiday season release. The competition between Intel and AMD’s offerings is poised to make the CPU market very dynamic in the coming months.
