Board members must be wary of outsourcing their duties to artificial intelligence, one of Australia’s most senior judges says, warning the new technology could resemble a scam and lead to another automated decision-making disaster like the robo-debt scandal.
New South Wales Chief Justice Andrew Bell told directors that the law prohibits them from delegating their work directly to AI bots and said the radical move of introducing fully automated board members was off limits, at least for now.
