Four lawmakers from both chambers, who represent multiple political parties, want the heads of government to work together to set standards to secure international research in emerging technology areas such as artificial intelligence and quantum science.
Sens. Angus King, I-Maine, and James Lankford, R-Okla., And Reps. Susan Wild, D-Penn., And Mike Gallagher, R-Wisc., On Tuesday introduced laws that positioned them to help protect and advance American intellectual property and research.
“To ensure that the Free World, not the Chinese Communist Party, leads the way in developing the new technologies of the future, we need to pool our resources and build collective resilience in our societies,” said Gallagher. “This starts with reasonable security standards to ensure that our opponents do not benefit from sensitive research.”
