Intel’s upcoming lineup, known as Arrow Lake, has been leaked. This will mark the 15th generation of CPUs from Intel since the line was first launched in 2008. The naming scheme for these new chips has been confirmed by CPU-Z, a software used to gather information about personal computers. The new CPU family is set to include models such as Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, Intel Core Ultra 7 265K, and Intel Core Ultra 5 245K, among others.
The new naming scheme introduced by Intel is aimed at simplifying the identification of their chips. It consists of five identifiers: brand, wattage, series, SKU (stock keeping unit), and a suffix that indicates the chip’s capabilities or intended use. For example, the “K” suffix in the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K indicates that the chip is unlocked and suitable for overclocking.
Intel’s Arrow Lake CPUs are expected to hit stores later this year, possibly around October when Intel typically releases new models. However, this new naming scheme has only been applied to laptops and mobile chips so far. The company has provided a complete guide on its website explaining the breakdown of the naming conventions for its chips.
In terms of competition, Intel will face challenges from AMD, with the leaked Ryzen 9000 line expected to perform well in single-threaded tests. However, early benchmarks suggest that Intel may have an edge in multi-threaded performance over AMD’s Ryzen 9000 CPUs. Intel has been facing difficulties in the gaming sector, with issues related to GPU performance that require frequent updates.
One of Intel’s flagship CPUs, the 14900K, has encountered problems due to BIOS-related issues. Despite these challenges, Intel is expected to continue its efforts to address these issues and enhance the performance of its chips. It remains to be seen how Intel will fare against its competitors with the launch of the Arrow Lake CPUs later this year.
