At Computex 2024, Intel unveiled its new Core Ultra 200V series, codenamed Lunar Lake, with the possibility of nine different variants, including Core Ultra 7 and Core Ultra 5 SKUs, and a single Core Ultra 9 variant. The exact specifications of the new mobile processor are expected to be released in September 2024, but it is known that Intel is incorporating its fourth generation Neural Processing Unit (NPU) into the Microsoft Copilot+ line to provide 48 TOPS of performance, meeting Microsoft’s requirement of at least 40 TOPS for the Copilot+ badge.
According to leaked information, each Lunar Lake variant will consist of four Lion Cove performance cores and four Skymont efficiency cores, specifically designed for low-power mobile devices. Arrow Lake, on the other hand, is targeted at mainstream desktop and mobile computers and is expected to be released in October 2024.
In terms of integrated graphics, Intel will be introducing the new generation of its Arc graphics, the Battlemage GPU, utilizing the Xe2-LPG architecture. The expected Lunar Lake variants will feature between seven to eight Xe2 GPU cores and will come with either 16GB or 32GB of LPDDR5-8533 memory, which will not be user upgradeable.
At the lower end of the performance spectrum, the Core Ultra 5 226V will have a 17W PL1 and 30W PL2 power delivery system, with performance cores running at 4.5 GHz and efficiency cores at 3.5 GHz. The integrated Arc 130V graphics will operate at 1.85 GHz, and the NPU will deliver 40 TOPS of processing power.
In contrast, the Core Ultra 9 288V, the most powerful Lunar Lake SKU, is expected to have a 30W PL1 and PL2 power delivery system, with performance cores clocking at 5.1 GHz and efficiency cores at 3.7 GHz. The integrated Arc 140V graphics will run at 2.05 GHz, and the NPU will provide 48 TOPS of AI processing power.
