Kyndryl, the largest IT infrastructure services provider globally, has established its first Center of Excellence for mainframe modernization in Malaysia in partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS). This CoE will leverage Kyndryl’s expertise in mission-critical mainframe systems and AWS’s capabilities to assist enterprises in upgrading and migrating their legacy mainframe applications to a cloud-native environment.
The Malaysia-based CoE will work closely with Kyndryl’s global center in the United States to cater to businesses across ASEAN. With Malaysia’s digital economy accounting for 23.2% of its GDP, there is a growing need for companies to transform and remain agile. Despite the rise of cloud technologies, mainframes remain essential for 90% of organizations worldwide. Through this collaboration, Kyndryl and AWS aim to support organizations in accelerating their modernization processes.
The CoE will provide strategic guidance, mission-critical IT expertise, and skills in mainframe and cloud technologies to enterprise customers. By combining Kyndryl’s experienced consultants and managed services experts with AWS’s solutions architects, customers will be able to define the right modernization strategies and derive more value from their mainframe applications.
One industry that will benefit significantly from this CoE is the banking sector in ASEAN, which heavily relies on mainframe technology. By modernizing mainframe systems on AWS, Kyndryl’s banking customers can scale resources dynamically based on demand, optimize transaction volumes during peak times, and reduce costs associated with legacy applications. Through a focus on mainframe modernization, Kyndryl aims to collaborate with AWS to transform enterprises’ cloud strategies effectively.
