Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says outgoing Optus CEO Kelly Bayer Rosmarin reached out to Communications Minster Michelle Rowland before announcing her departure Monday morning.
Mr Clennell said Ms Bayer Rosmarin coped a roasting at a Senate hearing following the telecommunication company’s network outage, which left around 10 million customers unable to access 000 calls or the internet.
“Media reports that the CEO was about to resign were put to the Optus CEO at that Senate hearing into this Optus incident on Friday,” Mr Clennell said.
“Bayer Rosmarin has been subject to quite a lot of media attention since the outage.
“The departing CEO reached out to Communications Minister Michelle Rowland before her announcement this morning, and the minister rang her back after Cabinet.”
