Pamela Bondi and other senior officials, particularly for their effort to block a 14 billion dollar merger between Hewlett Packard Enterprise (NYSE: HPE) and Juniper Networks (NYSE: JNPR), according to The Guardian. Slater opposed the deal on competition grounds, citing concerns that it could create a duopoly in cloud computing and wireless networking systems. The dispute escalated after CIA director John Ratcliffe raised national security concerns about blocking the transaction, prompting the Justice Department to drop its lawsuit in June 2025 and seek a settlement instead.
