Josef has launched a Rapid Ingestion Engine that uses AI to transform unstructured business inputs into structured data for legal workflows, while keeping document output rules-based and controlled.

The product targets a long-standing point of friction in the legal business. Many legal teams have refined templates, clause libraries, and workflow logic over the years. Yet ingestion often remains manual, relying on lengthy forms and back-and-forths to translate commercial discussions into the areas that require these systems.

Josef positions the new engine as a shift in the position of AI in the workflow. It argues that automation gains are limited when AI focuses on designs and other outputs rather than extracting and validating the inputs that feed an established template process.

“Most teams apply AI at the wrong point in the workflow – the output,” said Tom Dreyfus, CEO and co-founder of Josef.

“The right place is recording. The AI should read the chaos that arrives before executing the template…”
