San Francisco: The richest person in the world, Jeff Bezos, is set to step down as CEO of Amazon tomorrow (Monday, July 5), 27 years after starting the e-commerce colossus to expand his private space exploration company, philanthropy and other endeavors. Bezos, 57, hands over the top role to Andy Jassy after turning a humble online bookseller platform into one of the most powerful companies in the world. Bezos remains Executive Chairman and largest shareholder of Amazon, while his successor Andy Jassy takes the lead. Jassy joined Amazon in 1997 as Marketing Manager and has headed Amazon Web Services (AWS) since its inception in 2003. In 2016, he was named CEO of the Amazon Cloud division.
