It’s safe to say that James Cameron will never cast Tilly Norwood in a film.
In a recent interview with CBS Sunday Morning, the “Terminator” director explained that even before the invention of generative AI, some Hollywood insiders thought he would use computer graphics to replace actors when he was developing the first “Avatar” film in 2005.
He recalled: “For years there was a feeling of, ‘Oh, they’re doing something weird with computers and they’re replacing actors,’ when in reality it’s a celebration of the actor-director moment once you look closer and see what we’re doing.”
Cameron said the idea that the technology could replace a performer was “terrible” now that generative AI is entering the industry.
