A VPN / SD-WAN survey went live on ITWeb. The aim of the survey is to examine the current status of VPN / SD-WAN implementation in South African organizations.

The virtual private network (VPN) landscape in South Africa has been changing for many years, driven by a number of factors including: 1) falling prices for connectivity and managed networks; 2) improving broadband connectivity; and 3) adoption of cloud services. The implementation of VPN technologies that use the public Internet as a transport medium has increased.

SD-WAN in particular has seen increasing adoption as the technology itself began to mature as service providers developed their go-to-market strategies. Many companies that have piloted this new technology have made the move to full deployment. However, the pace of change has been gradual.
