Although it certainly doesn’t feel like it, oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL) Stocks ended 2025 with respectable market-beating gains, up about 17% and outperforming the S&P 500 by almost a full percentage point. Undoubtedly, it was an eventful and turbulent year for the fast-growing AI data center market, which captured investors’ hearts in the summer but brought them to a standstill the following fall.

Sentiment around AI spending has shifted sharply, with indebted lenders hit harder as AI trading has cooled by the end of 2025. With the first day of trading in January getting off to a choppy start and Mag Seven shares showing signs of wobbliness, it appears as though the first quarter of 2026 could follow a similar scenario to the fourth quarter of 2025. More volatility and increased selectivity in AI stocks could continue to be a dominant theme.
