Online retail giant Amazon has tacitly bought a development site in southern Dallas County with plans for technology-related operation.
The Seattle-based company’s Amazon Data Services acquired 9-acres of vacant land on Hampton Road south of Interstate 20 in DeSoto, according to county records. The property was purchased by a California investor who had held the land for more than eight years.
Amazon Data Services is a data center operator and online computing subsidiary of the major retailer. For the past two years, Amazon has worked to significantly expand its US data center operations to handle the overwhelming growth of its business and provide more services to third party companies.
