Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing the way Australians live and work, and now a new report has highlighted an ironic trend for a job many people have probably never heard of.
Research from global staffing firm Deel has found that the role of an AI trainer has emerged as a new job category, even as AI replaces thousands of jobs in numerous industries around the world.
AI trainers review, label, and rate AI-generated content to teach these systems to behave better over time. According to Deel, AI trainers working in Australia earn an average wage of $33.60 per hour, but can receive higher salaries depending on their expertise.
Shannon Karaka, ANZ expansion director at Deel, said the rise of AI training as a profession represents “a broader shift in the way Australian workplaces are being transformed by AI” and that workers in the health, legal, finance and education sectors are among those most likely to be affected.
