The Competition and Markets Authority in Britain is investigating Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s proposed acquisition of Juniper Networks to determine if it raises competition concerns in the country. The regulator has until August 14 to make a decision on whether to conduct further investigation into the $14 billion deal. HPE announced in January its intention to purchase Juniper to enhance its artificial intelligence offerings and increase its networking business. The acquisition is part of the AI tech boom where companies are investing heavily in technology upgrades. HPE expects to finalize the deal by the end of 2024 or early 2025, working with UK regulators to complete necessary reviews and secure authorization. Juniper, based in the US, has not yet commented on the investigation. The US stock market was closed on June 16 for a holiday.
