Amazon Web Services (AWS) has introduced a new feature called Amazon WorkSpaces Pools, designed to help customers save costs by sharing virtual desktops among multiple users. This feature allows each user to have a fresh desktop every time they log in, offering flexibility for various use cases such as training labs and contact centers. User settings like bookmarks and files can be saved for customization, stored in repositories like Amazon S3 or Amazon FSx.
WorkSpaces Pools streamline management across a customer’s entire WorkSpaces environment through a single console and set of clients to manage desktop hardware, storage, and front-end configurations. It also facilitates the management of desktop applications and integrates with Microsoft 365 for enterprises. Users can utilize AWS Application Auto Scaling to automatically adjust the number of virtual desktops based on real-time usage or scheduled metrics, with pay-as-you-go hourly pricing for cost savings.
Customers now have the choice between WorkSpaces Personal and WorkSpaces Pools, or can opt for a combination of both, all managed through a single AWS management console. WorkSpaces Pools are available with different bundle options, including Value, Standard, Performance, Power, and PowerPro. For more information on regional availability, visit the AWS website.
