Intel’s Lunar Lake-based laptops, set to be released in Q3 2024, have been delayed until Q4 2024. This delay may impact availability for holiday shoppers, as discounts on the newest models may be scarce. Manufacturers may continue to rely on existing models like the Asus Zephyrus G14 until the Lunar Lake laptops are released.

Shipments of Lunar Lake AI processors were originally scheduled for June 2024 but have now been delayed to September. This delay will leave Intel out of the competition for new AI-enabled CPUs, as AMD and Qualcomm are already releasing their own products. AMD’s Strix Point Ryzen AI 300 mobile CPUs are expected to provide strong gaming performance without the need for dedicated GPUs.

The reason for the delay in the Lunar Lake launch is unclear, but it is speculated that the use of TSMC manufacturing and a newer 3nm N3B process may have impacted Intel’s ability to build up stock of new chips. In the meantime, consumers may consider purchasing current generation gaming laptops that offer excellent performance, as the Lunar Lake and Strix Point models are not yet available.

Overall, those in the market for a top-tier gaming laptop may want to wait until the Lunar Lake laptops are released. In the meantime, AMD’s Strix Point laptops may be the best option for those seeking a compact laptop with gaming performance capabilities.
