Intel has teased its upcoming mobile processors, codenamed Lunar Lake, ahead of its full release scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2024. The new chips will include Lion Cove performance cores and Skymont efficiency cores for enhanced computing power. Intel claims that Lunar Lake will outperform Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite and Plus chips.

In addition to the new cores, Lunar Lake will feature a more powerful Xe2 GPU named Battlemage, promising 1.5 times the performance of Intel’s next-gen graphics. Intel is also focusing on AI processing power, with the new chips offering more than 45 TOPS, matching Qualcomm’s offerings. The integration of Xe Matrix Extensions (XMX) into the NPU will enhance AI acceleration.

The competition for PC supremacy heats up as Microsoft shifts its latest Surface line from Intel to Qualcomm. This move signals a significant shift in the market, with Intel aiming to stay competitive against Snapdragon processors.
