Intel discontinues production of the Core i9-12900KS and other remaining 14nm desktop CPUs.

Intel is set to discontinue its 14nm era desktop CPUs, including the non-K 10th-gen Core CPUs and the flagship Core i9-12900KS processor. The Core i9-12900KS, once the fastest CPU on the market, featured 16 cores, 24 threads, and a clock speed of up to 5.5 GHz. It was later surpassed by newer models like the i7-13700K and i9-13900K, which boasted higher clock speeds and core counts. A successor to the i9-12900KS, the Core i9-13900KS, was also released with improved specifications.

Intel has initiated a discontinuation process for the i9-12900KS and the remaining 10th-gen Core series processors, which include entry-level models like the Pentium Gold and Celeron SKUs. Orders for these processors will be accepted until January 2025 and fulfilled until July 2025, after which they will be officially discontinued.

Although the discontinuation process has begun, these processors will still be available for purchase for some time, even after Intel ceases to accept new orders. This allows customers interested in these CPUs to acquire them within the next few months.

In conclusion, Intel is phasing out its 14nm era desktop CPUs, including the Core i9-12900KS and the remaining 10th-gen Core series processors. The i9-12900KS, once a top-performing CPU, will be discontinued along with other entry-level models. Customers still interested in these processors have a limited time to make a purchase before they are officially retired by Intel.
