Indonesia’s Immigration Data Transferred to Amazon Web Service After Ransomware Attack



Law and Human Rights Minister Yasonna Laoly confirmed that immigration data services are secure on Amazon Web Service following a cyberattack. The data remains in AWS and is safe from leaks. The Ministry of Law and Human Rights’ immigration services were transferred to AWS after disruptions caused by a ransomware attack. President Joko Widodo tasked Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform to study national data management in preparation for the official National Data Centre (NDC). Minister of Communications and IT noted that Indonesia is among the lowest in the G20 countries in terms of ransomware attacks, with the data center expected to fully recover by the end of July.
