Bhavish Aggarwal, co-founder and chairman of Ola Group, announced that developers should consider moving away from Google Maps in favor of Ola Maps on the AI-powered Krutrim platform. Ola is offering one year of free access and over Rs 100 crore in free credits to encourage this transition. The company recently switched to using Ola Maps for taxi operations, saving nearly Rs 100 crore annually by addressing India-specific challenges such as street names, urban changes, complex traffic, and non-standard roads. Ola Maps utilizes AI-powered algorithms and real-time data from millions of vehicles to provide accurate mapping data. The company also highlighted its AI data systems that use a variety of sources to create detailed map features. Aggarwal previously shifted all of Ola’s workload from Microsoft Azure to the in-house Krutrim platform.
