Amazon is a major employer in Spain, currently employing over 25,000 people in the country. This makes them one of the largest private sector employers in Spain. Since 2018, they have created over 20,000 new jobs, showcasing their commitment to growth and investment in the country. Their workforce is diverse, with employees from over 100 nationalities, including over 40% women in sectors traditionally dominated by men.

In 2021, Amazon set a goal to reach 25,000 permanent employees by 2025, but they achieved this milestone ahead of schedule at the end of 2023. They operate at 40 sites across Spain and have recently expanded with new logistics centers in Zaragoza and Girona. They have also announced plans for a new center in Siero (Asturias) and delivery stations in Granada and Coruña, which are expected to create over 1,500 jobs in the next three years.

Amazon’s logistics sites provide a modern and safe work environment, along with competitive salaries that exceed industry standards. Employees receive comprehensive benefits from day one, including private health insurance, a pension plan, subsidized meals, employee discounts, and extended paid parental leave, which are valued at more than 3,500 euros per year.

Furthermore, Amazon Web Services (AWS) has committed to investing 15.7 billion euros in Spain over the next decade, expanding its AWS Europe Region in Aragon. This investment is projected to support 17,500 full-time jobs annually, including direct, indirect, and induced jobs. By creating jobs and investing in the local economy, Amazon is contributing to economic growth at the local, regional, and national levels, creating opportunities for employees and the communities they serve.
