Creating social media content about the latest game releases can feel like a speed run that never ends. Being one of the first to report on the next big thing is crucial to building an audience, as Lewis Edridge – better known as LewisBlogsGaming – knows all too well with his more than 770,000 total social media followers. This means that photo and video footage needs to be good enough to be shared on the first take, and editing is often done on the go between one shoot and the next.
Edridge, 31, got his start when a breakup at the tender age of 13 led him to start a YouTube channel as a creative outlet. “I really enjoyed recording the gameplay and commenting on it. I uploaded it to YouTube and the clips became more and more popular, to the point where I signed with a network and started making some money. And then my mom said, ‘You should get a job at a supermarket,’ to which I said, ‘Can I just do this instead?'”
