The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that a section of IL 48 will be closed for two days for maintenance work on two bridges over unnamed streams. The closure will take place on Tuesday, May 28 and Wednesday, May 29, from 7 am to 5 pm, weather permitting.
The affected area is located on the Macon-Piatt County line between E Washington St Rd (CR 1700N) and Ospur Rd (CR 2100N) near Cisco and Weldon. Motorists should expect delays and plan for additional travel time. An alternate route on I-72 and Illinois Route 10 will be marked to help drivers avoid the work area during the closure.
The closure is necessary to ensure the safety and integrity of the bridges carrying IL 48. Drivers are advised to follow the detour signs and plan their route accordingly to minimize disruptions to their travel plans.
