IFFCO chooses Oracle Cloud Infrastructure for Fertiliser Spraying Project Using Drones

Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Ltd. (IFFCO) has chosen Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) to power its mobile application, IFFCO Kisan Uday, which allows farmers to book, view, and manage IFFCO nanofertilizer sprays using drones. The decision to go with OCI was based on its performance, scalability, and ability to integrate with various third-party applications and workflows to support the IFFCO Kisan Drone project. The project aims to enhance agricultural productivity through drone technology, providing farmers with real-time data through the mobile app.

Through the use of 2,500 IFFCO Kisan Drones, data is collected and processed by OCI Media Flow and OCI Media Streams. The captured data includes information such as longitude, latitude, area of nanofertilizer sprayed, flow rate, battery status, altitude, and fertilizer consumed. OCI Media Streams handle the transcoding, transcription, and integration of the data stored on the platform, enabling IFFCO to manage the increasing volume of data efficiently with the help of OCI Compute Virtual Machines.

AK Gupta, IT Director and Board Member of IFFCO, emphasized the importance of OCI in enabling the organization to leverage technology for sustainable agriculture. Gupta expressed excitement about expanding the collaboration with OCI and highlighted the platform’s capabilities in handling large amounts of data that are expected to increase significantly in the months ahead.

Shailender Kumar, senior vice president and regional general manager of Oracle India, noted the ongoing transformation in the Indian agriculture market as farmers embrace new technologies to improve productivity and profitability. Kumar highlighted the role of OCI in revolutionizing agricultural practices and driving positive changes in rural communities across India by empowering organizations like IFFCO to bring innovative solutions to the sector.

Overall, the partnership between IFFCO and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure represents a significant step towards modernizing and optimizing agricultural practices in India through the use of cutting-edge technology like drones and cloud computing. The adoption of OCI for the IFFCO Kisan Uday mobile application underscores the commitment to enhancing efficiency, sustainability, and effectiveness in the agricultural sector, paving the way for a brighter and technologically advanced future for farmers in the country.
