IBM strengthens public sector business with acquisition of SiXworks – InfotechLead

IBM has acquired UK-based consultancy SiXworks, which specializes in digital transformation for the UK defence sector. Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Farnborough, England, SiXworks is a partner of the UK Ministry of Defence. The financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed by IBM or SiXworks.

This acquisition will provide IBM Consulting with additional technical skills in defence digital, cyber, and cloud solutions, allowing them to better serve their clients in the UK defence sector. SiXworks will bring complementary capabilities to IBM’s existing cybersecurity, data, and AI offerings in the UK.

IBM had previously acquired Octo to expand their digital transformation services for the U.S. federal government, including defense, healthcare, and civilian agencies. The addition of SiXworks will further strengthen IBM’s position in the defense sector.

In 2023, IBM generated revenue of $18.492 billion in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa region, with UK sales revenue increasing by 0.7 percent. IBM’s total revenue for the year was $61.86 billion.

The acquisition of SiXworks aligns with IBM’s strategy to expand its presence in the defense sector and enhance its digital transformation services. With the addition of SiXworks’ expertise in digital, cyber, and cloud solutions, IBM Consulting will be better equipped to meet the growing demand for these services in the UK defence sector.
