IBM Stocks Fall Over 2% While Agent Identity Becomes Infrastruct

IBM IBM, the hybrid-cloud and enterprise-AI company, is bringing its agent identity and credential tools into Nvidia OpenShell. Shares fell about 2.0% to $220.89 at 9.52am ET Time on Monday, Sept. 28. The pitch is straightforward: as AI agents gain permission to act inside a business, someone needs to know which agent is acting and what it can reach.

IBM Agent Identity, now in public preview, establishes an agent’s identity and authority. HashiCorp Vault controls its access to credentials, while IBM Identity Protection helps security teams spot agents operating outside their view. Red Hat OpenShift provides a way to run those agents across different computing environments. Together, the tools could make autonomous software easier for large companies to supervise.

That is a potential opening for IBM’s wider software business, but the announcement gives investors no contract value, pricing or date for a full Agent Identity release. The chart puts the share price 9.08% below its $242.94…
