IBM is set to open a new GenAI Innovation Center in Kochi

The GenAI Innovation Center, launched by IBM in Kochi, aims to accelerate AI innovation, enhance productivity, and strengthen generative AI expertise in India. The center will provide enterprises, startups, and partners with access to IBM experts and technologies to develop and scale enterprise-grade AI solutions. It is based on InstructLab, a technology co-developed by IBM and Red Hat to enhance large language models (LLMs) with a client’s data, and will leverage IBM Watson AI and data platform as well as AI assistant technologies.

Managed by IBM technical experts, the GenAI Innovation Center will be part of the IBM India Software Lab in Kochi. It will enable clients to learn about fine-tuning LLMs and partner with IBM to deploy their own trained, tuned, and governed AI models for various business use cases. The center aims to foster a community focused on harnessing generative AI to address societal and business challenges such as sustainability, public infrastructure, healthcare, education, and inclusion.

Dinesh Nirmal, Senior Vice President, Product, IBM Software, emphasized IBM’s commitment to fostering India’s AI community and catalyzing innovation through co-creation and collaboration. He stated that AI is at the core of IBM’s growth strategy and the GenAI Innovation Center underscores the company’s dedication to increasing AI talent, boosting organizational productivity, and improving citizen services.
