IBM increases Watson portfolio to bring AI to Amazon Web Services

IBM has announced a collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to provide access to the full range of products in the Watsonx data and artificial intelligence platform. This partnership was unveiled at the annual IBM Think conference. The companies plan to integrate IBM’s watsonx.governance and Amazon SageMaker to help customers manage model risk and comply with regulatory requirements, such as the European Union AI Law.

Chris Konow, CEO of CleanSlate Technology Group, a cloud consulting firm and partner of IBM and AWS, highlighted the significance of combining AWS SageMaker with watsonx.governance to address governance issues in AI projects. Ankur Mehrotra, general manager of Amazon SageMaker on AWS, expressed excitement about bringing more generative AI solutions to customers through the collaboration with IBM.

The collaboration aims to facilitate the use of an open, hybrid approach with end-to-end governance to scale AI in the workplace. The services resulting from this partnership are expected to be available to users in June.
