Club representatives from Sevilla FC recently attended IBM’s largest convention of the year, IBM Think 2024, in Boston. The event focused on the use of information technology and data in sports management, showcasing industry leaders who have found success in these areas. Elías Zamora, Chief Data Officer of the club, was a guest speaker at the event, discussing the launch of the Scout Advisor tool. This tool utilizes IBM’s generative artificial intelligence platform, watsonx, to quickly analyze and convert browsing databases into understandable language.

Sevilla FC has one of the largest scouting networks in the world, and they use technology to complement the judgments of their explorers. The goal is to maximize the effectiveness of their exploration network by merging data with human knowledge.
The visit to the United States also provided an opportunity for Sevilla FC to strengthen its relationship with IBM. Zamora met with IBM’s Senior Vice President and Research Director, Dario Gil, to discuss potential future collaborations. Additionally, the club had the chance to learn about the technological projects of other sports entities present at the event, including Major League Baseball teams like the Chicago Cubs and the Boston Red Sox, as well as the NBA’s Boston Celtics and Mexican soccer club Chivas of Guadalajara.
Overall, the trip to IBM’s convention in Boston allowed Sevilla FC to showcase their use of technology in sports management, particularly in scouting and player identification. The club’s collaboration with IBM and other sports entities demonstrates their commitment to leveraging technology to enhance their exploration network and maximize their success on and off the field.
