IBM Enhances ESG Data Platform with AI-Powered Emissions Planning and Forecasting Features, Reports ESG Today

IBM has introduced AI-powered emissions planning and forecasting capabilities to its ESG data collection, analysis, and reporting platform, IBM Envizi. The goal is to help companies optimize their sustainability planning and climate strategies by guiding them towards their emissions reduction goals and meeting climate reporting requirements. These new capabilities address the need for forecasting tools that can effectively manage ESG data models.

IBM acquired Envizi in 2022 to enhance its AI-powered ESG solutions capabilities. The addition of these new capabilities is part of a series of recent enhancements to the platform, including supply chain emissions data collection and analysis, as well as CSRD Sustainability Reports capabilities.

The new solution integrates Envizi’s ESG data model with IBM’s planning and forecasting suite, IBM Planning Analytics, to automate the process. Companies can now perform complex modeling and forecasting on their ESG data, using multiple variables and what-if scenarios based on their most recent data.

Kendra DeKeyrel, Vice President of Asset Management and ESG Product Leader at IBM, emphasized the importance of specialized, comprehensive, and scalable data management and reporting solutions as sustainability goals become more pervasive within organizations. IBM Envizi is designed to support clients throughout their sustainability journey, from capturing ESG data to planning, forecasting, reporting, and performance improvement.
