The Department of Science and Technology, Government of Gujarat signed an MoU with IBM to establish an AI Cluster in GIFT City. This partnership will provide financial institutions in GIFT City access to AI Sandbox, proof of concepts, AI literacy programs, and digital assistant solutions. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel believes this collaboration will help lead the country in adopting AI and driving digital transformation.
IBM will provide software technologies and platforms in a cloud environment for financial institutions to customize and fine-tune AI models in a sandbox environment. They also plan to build a digital assistant-based solution to facilitate onboarding and integration of these customized models. Sandip Patel, CEO of IBM India and South Asia, emphasizes the importance of using AI for business to gain a competitive advantage through improved productivity, innovation, and customer experience.
IBM will also develop an AI curriculum for schools and colleges in Gujarat, aligning with their commitment to train 30 million people by 2030 and 2 million students in AI by 2026. The collaboration aims to accelerate the adoption of AI in SMEs and prepare professionals for the AI-driven future economy through literacy programs and certifications.
Mona Khandhar, Principal Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology, highlighted the detailed nature of the MoUs and the goal of bringing futuristic technology closer to the people. This partnership signifies a significant step in the ongoing effort to accelerate the digital transformation of Gujarat and make the latest AI solutions easily accessible to financial institutions in GIFT City.
