IBM Brings Autonomous Agentic-AI Operations To Enterprise Storage

IBM entered 2026 with numbers it hasn’t posted in years. In its latest earnings release, the company delivered 6% revenue growth in 2025, its highest in many years, and generated $14.7 billion in free cash flow, the strongest figure in over a decade. Infrastructure led the charge, growing 10% for the full year with the z17 mainframe platform reaching its highest annual revenue in roughly two decades.

For IT executives who have watched IBM spend the better part of a decade repositioning itself as a software and hybrid cloud company, its resurgence in infrastructure is a meaningful signal. IBM isn’t abandoning the hardware business, but it is making infrastructure smarter.
