As customers embrace generative AI (gen AI), they seek suitable model options and robust platforms to integrate AI into their applications. IBM’s Watsonx™ addresses various business needs and use cases tailored to each department, domain, and industry within a company.

In an effort to further this commitment, IBM has announced partnerships with Mistral and the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA). These collaborations aim to incorporate cutting-edge foundation models into IBM’s extensive model library.

One of the partnerships includes a strategic alliance with Mistral AI, a French AI modeling company. IBM will soon offer Mistral’s business models, including Mistral-Large, on IBM Watsonx™ both on-premises and in the IBM Cloud®. Additionally, IBM has launched Allam, an open Arabic Large Language Model (LLM) from SDAIA, on the Watsonx platform to drive technological transformation in the Middle East region with AI advancements.

On April 18, 2024, IBM announced the availability of Meta Llama 3 on the Watsonx platform. This next-generation open LLM model aims to assist companies in innovating their AI journeys and builds upon IBM’s collaboration with Meta in advancing open innovation for AI through initiatives like the AI Alliance.

These strategic alliances align with IBM’s open-source strategy and offerings, focusing on promoting open innovation around LLMs and encouraging collaboration among organizations. IBM leverages its research and expertise to provide enterprise-grade models that enable clients to scale quality-generating AI with confidence. Through the incorporation of the IBM Research Lab Alignment technique into the InstructLab open-source tool, models can be tailored to specific domains and use cases.

IBM’s approach revolves around offering a diverse range of models to cater to different business applications, adapt to changing markets, optimize costs, and manage risks in the AI space. By collaborating with foundational model leaders such as Meta, Mistral, and SDAIA, IBM aims to deliver top-tier models to enterprise clients while ensuring quality and security throughout the AI lifecycle.

In conclusion, IBM’s commitment to providing innovative AI solutions through strategic partnerships, open-source collaboration, and a diverse range of models underscores its dedication to empowering businesses with cutting-edge AI capabilities.
