IBM and the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of Gujarat have partnered to establish an AI Cluster at GIFT City, utilizing IBM’s watsonx platform. The goal of this initiative is to enhance collaboration and innovation within financial institutions in the region. The AI Cluster will offer an AI Sandbox, proof of concept support, AI literacy initiatives, and digital assistive technologies to accelerate the digital transformation of financial services in GIFT City.
The Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, highlighted that this collaboration will position Gujarat as a frontrunner in AI adoption and digital transformation efforts in India. Sandip Patel, the Managing Director of IBM India and South Asia, expressed that the collaboration aims to make cutting-edge AI solutions easily accessible to financial institutions in GIFT City, ultimately improving productivity, fostering innovation, and enhancing customer experiences.
IBM will provide cloud-based software tools to financial institutions through the MoU, enabling them to customize and enhance large AI models in various languages within a sandbox environment. Additionally, IBM will develop a digital assistant solution to aid financial institutions in integrating these AI models into their operations.
In alignment with IBM’s commitment to training two million AI learners by 2026 and thirty million individuals by 2030, an AI curriculum will be developed for schools and institutions in Gujarat. This partnership also includes professional certifications and literacy programs to equip the state’s workforce with the necessary skills for an AI-driven future.
Overall, this collaboration marks an important milestone in the ongoing partnership between IBM and the Government of Gujarat to catalyze the state’s digital transformation. By establishing the AI Cluster at GIFT City, the aim is to democratize access to the latest AI solutions for the expanding number of financial institutions in the region, ultimately propelling Gujarat towards becoming a hub of AI innovation and digital excellence.
