IBM and the Gujarat government have joined hands to create an artificial intelligence cluster using IBM’s ‘Watsonx’ at the Gujarat International Finance Tec (GIFT) City. This partnership aims to promote innovation and collaboration among financial institutions in the region by providing access to AI Sandbox, proof of concept assistance, AI literacy programs, and digital assistant solutions.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between IBM and the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Gujarat. IBM’s Watsonx is a powerful AI and data platform designed for enterprises. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel highlighted that this collaboration will position Gujarat as a leader in adopting AI and driving digital transformation.
Sandip Patel, CEO of IBM India and South Asia, emphasized the importance of using AI for business to gain a competitive advantage through improved productivity, innovation, and customer experience. He mentioned that the partnership with Gujarat is a significant step towards accelerating the state’s digital transformation. The establishment of the AI cluster will make cutting-edge AI solutions easily accessible to the increasing number of financial institutions in GIFT City.
Under the MoU, IBM will provide software technologies and platforms in a cloud environment for financial institutions to customize and fine-tune AI models in various languages. Additionally, IBM will develop a digital assistant-based solution to streamline the onboarding and integration of these custom language models for financial institutions.
In alignment with IBM’s commitment to training 30 million people by 2030 and 2 million students in AI by 2026, the company will create an AI curriculum for schools and universities in Gujarat. This initiative aims to prepare students for the future job market that will increasingly rely on AI technology.
