IBM and the Department of Science and Technology in Gujarat have signed an MoU to establish an AI Cluster using IBM’s Watson technology in the city of GIFT. This collaboration will provide financial institutions with access to AI Sandbox, proof of concept support, AI literacy programs, and digital assistant solutions. The Gujarat Chief Minister highlighted that this partnership will help the state lead in AI adoption and digital transformation.

IBM will offer software technologies and platforms in a cloud environment for financial institutions to customize and optimize large natural language AI models. The goal is to make the latest AI solutions easily accessible to the growing number of financial institutions in GIFT City. Additionally, IBM plans to create a digital assistant-based solution to aid in the integration of these language models for financial institutions.

In line with IBM’s commitment to training 30 million people by 2030 and 2 million students in AI by 2026, the company will develop an AI curriculum for schools and colleges in Gujarat. This collaboration reflects IBM’s ongoing partnership with the Government of Gujarat to accelerate the state’s digital transformation. Sandip Patel, Managing Director of IBM India and South Asia, emphasized the importance of this partnership in advancing Gujarat’s digital initiatives.
