IBM and the Gujarat government have signed an agreement to establish an artificial intelligence cluster using IBM’s Watsonx at GIFT City. Financial institutions will receive access to AI Sandbox, proofs of concept, AI literacy programs, and digital assistant solutions. The partnership aims to drive innovation and collaboration among financial institutions in Gujarat.
The MoU between IBM and the Department of Science and Technology of Gujarat focuses on leveraging Watsonx to promote innovation and collaboration in the GIFT City. Watsonx is an AI and data platform for enterprises. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel believes that this collaboration will position Gujarat as a leader in adopting AI and digital transformation.
IBM’s CEO in India and South Asia, Sandip Patel, highlights the strategic importance of using AI for business to improve productivity, innovation, and customer experience. The partnership with the Government of Gujarat aims to accelerate the state’s digital transformation by making AI solutions accessible to financial institutions in GIFT City.
Through the MoU, IBM will provide software technologies and platforms in a cloud environment for financial institutions to customize and optimize AI models in multiple languages in a sandbox environment. Additionally, IBM will work on a digital assistant solution to streamline the onboarding and integration of custom language models for financial institutions.
In line with IBM’s commitment to empowering 30 million people by 2030 and training 2 million students in AI by 2026, the company will develop an AI curriculum for schools and colleges in Gujarat. Overall, the partnership between IBM and the Gujarat government aims to drive innovation, collaboration, and digital transformation in the financial sector in GIFT City.
