IBM and Salesforce Strengthen Partnership to Enhance Open and Trusted AI and Data Ecosystems.

IBM and Salesforce have announced an expanded strategic partnership to combine IBM watsonx’s AI and data platform capabilities with Salesforce’s Einstein Platform 1. This collaboration aims to provide customers with greater flexibility in implementing data and artificial intelligence solutions to help make data-driven decisions directly in their workflow.

The partnership will enable organizations to access larger language models (LLMs) tailored to their specific business needs through Salesforce’s Bring Your Own Large Language Model strategy. Customers will be able to integrate their LLMs with the watsonx.ai platform and Salesforce’s Einstein 1 Studio. IBM’s Granite Series AI Models, designed for enterprise data sets, will be accessible to joint customers, allowing for various use cases like content generation, summarization, and classification.

The implementation of IBM Granite models with the Einstein 1 platform will facilitate the use of these models for different purposes, ensuring transparency, trustworthiness, and scalability across the enterprise. Pre-configured prompt templates and co-pilot actions powered by IBM data and services will also be available through Einstein 1 Studio and callable in flow and apex.

Furthermore, IBM Consulting is developing industry-specific prompt and co-pilot action templates expected to be included in Einstein 1 Studio later this year. These templates will help customers in sectors like automotive, energy, financial services, and public services enhance their interactions with constituents through AI-enabled Salesforce CRM initiatives.

The partnership will also bring two-way data integration between IBM watsonx and Salesforce Data Cloud, allowing customers to access their IBM data from Salesforce Data Cloud without copying data. This zero-copy integration approach streamlines data management, reduces security risks, and maximizes technology investments for clients.

Salesforce has joined the AI Alliance, aligning with the mission to promote open and responsible AI development across various sectors. The AI Alliance seeks to collaborate with leading organizations to create a transparent and ethical environment for AI development.

The integration of IBM Granite models on Salesforce is expected to launch early next year, offering customers innovative solutions to leverage data and AI capabilities for better decision-making and customer engagement.

IBM and Salesforce aim to empower organizations to harness AI and data technologies effectively to drive business growth and customer satisfaction. Through their strategic partnership, they are committed to advancing responsible AI development and making data-driven decisions more accessible and reliable for their customers.
